Let's use this thread to talk about the 4.3.x series of KDE.

Yesterday I compiled and packaged most of KDE-4.3.0rc1. I only left kdeaccessibility, kdeedu, kdegames, kdetoys and kdewebdev out of the loop. Why? because, IMHO, since this is just another test version, I don't think the first four packages are really neded. kdewebdev was giving me a bad time and since I was already tired... I decided to "banish it" for a while *grin*

But if ANYONE really need one of those packages, just let me know and I will work on them. Right now I am uploading the packages to bluewhite64-12.2 repository (http://data.linux64packages.net:8080/bluewhite64-12.2/).

I also uploaded a few changes in dependencies (to the deps/ folder). the "knotificationitem-0.1" got that version number because I didn't find its version. Since is said (by KDE guys) to be an experimental library, I "numbered" it that way.

If anything changes, I will let you know.

So far, kde-4.3.0rc1 is running nicely on my computer. Feedback and reports are welcome

Quick post!

I have upgrade it to KDE-4.3.0rc2. I have spotted two minor bugs and reported them:

1- one is about kget not remembering where I want to save files (when I try to download straight from konqueror)
2- the other is about KDEmicroBlog, which is not letting me post on twitter.com. I can read the twits, just can't post them.

And... I have upgraded the splash_screen to show "KDE-4.3" on it

If someone is up to testing if the bugs I found are reproduceable, please let me know and I can give you some directions.

Thanks

I am compiling KDE-4.3.0rc3 at this very moment. So tomorrow you all should be able to download it from our repository.

I just ask your special attention to check a few changes in dependencies from my packages from kde-4.3.0rc2 to 4.3.0rc3. I am now using another qt version and I found out kdebase-runtime-4.3.0rc3 won't compile against redland-1.0.9. So I had to downgrade to redland-1.0.8.

Don't ask me how kdebase-runtime-4.3.0rc2 worked with that (1.0.9). The #kde guys said it had to be luck.

I kindda believe that... or in "IT witchcraft".

OK, as soon as the packages are on the repository I will let you all know.

ooooooooook, kde-4.3.0rc3 uploaded to the repository. So now you guys can help me test

remember to upgrade the following depedencies:

-soprano
-qt

and to downgrade:

-redland

This morning I was told, by one of KDE devs, that the bug I reported for kget is fixed, but the fix didn't make it in time to kde-4.3.0rc3. So, I believe we won't have that boring problem on KDE-4.3.0 (official version).

But then I found another bug, this time on Konqueror --> https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201245

OK, happy testing

Nice being busy, huh?

Well, I forgot to come here to advertise that the KDE-4.3.0 packages are on our repository. So... now it is official. Grab it, test it and have fun with it

Tell me if you find anything wrong.

[EDIT]
Today the KDE guys released a patch to fix a "not so nice" bug. So I have already recompiled and packaged kdelibs, and it is already on the repository (kdelibs-4.3.0-x86_64-3_ken.tgz)

About the patch I spoke on the last post... it is because of this:

I will assume my job is being well done... or people don't care to post anything about problems found on my packages.

Anyway, this post is to announce that last KDE4 version (kde-4.3.1) for Bluewhite64-12.2 is on the repository.

You should also upgrade akonadi and strigi.

This is the last set of KDE packages I make for -12.2 because right now I am already upgrading my computer to bw64-current. And that's because we are very close to the release of bw64-13.0

So, I hope to be making the KDE-4.3.1 packages for bw64-current tonight.

See ya

I don't use KDE, but I'm sure your work is really appreciated. Personally, I thank you for supporting our favorite distribution, BW64!

Am I too late to reply? hehehe

tpreitzel, thanks for your words. I know there are some people who do use the packages I create, they just don't express their feelings on the forum, only over IRC or email.
